You built something with AI and it only runs on localhost — here’s how to put it online

You asked an AI to build a site for your business, and it worked. There it is on your screen — your colors, your products, your contact form. You open your browser, type localhost:3000, and everything looks perfect.

So you send the link to a friend to show it off — and it won’t load for them. “Works fine for me,” you think. You’re right, and that’s exactly the problem — which, happily, takes minutes to fix.

What is localhost, and why can only you see it?

localhost is your own computer. A site running on localhost lives inside your machine and nowhere else — like setting up your whole shop, counter and sign and all, inside your house with the door open only for you.

For customers to walk in, your site needs two things it doesn’t have yet:

  • A public place to live — this is called hosting.
  • An address anyone can reach — a URL, like yourbusiness.com.

That’s all “putting something online” means. Nothing more.

“But they told me deploying is hard”

Almost everyone believes it, and for years it was true: configure servers, memorize commands, wrestle with files no one ever explained. So plenty of people with a real business — or a genuinely good idea — stall right here, their site built and quietly filed away in a digital drawer.
